Why «EXTERNAL RELATIONS OF REGIONS»?
The program “External Relations of the Regions” (“International Relations”) is a unique Master's program that trains highly qualified specialists to work in the field of international relations on social and humanitarian issues, having knowledge and skills in organizing external relations and external economic activity of national regions. Amid increasing role of national regions and global cities in global politics, there is a growing demand for qualitatively new professionals who can provide effective external activity of state and non-state actors, taking into account new and promising trends of world politics. Given this, the School of Governance and Politics of MGIMO University and University of Cagliary establish the Master's program “External Relations of Regions”.
University of Cagliary
During the first year at the University of Cagliari (Sardinia, Italy) students are taught courses in International Relations, Law and Economics, English and Italian as foreign languages.
MGIMO University
The second year at MGIMO students get acquainted with general courses in the field of “International Relations” as well as the specialized ones, which allows them to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills in the field of external relations of regions and humanitarian diplomacy.
Internship
The 4th term is fully focused on thesis and 3-month internship. Students are free to choose a place for their internship from a list of MGIMO partners as well as to negotiate it with an enterprise of their choice. For committed and skilful students internships often become the starting point of their careers.
AFTER GRADUATION
MGIMO performs impressively well in connecting graduates with their employers: the University scores 5/5 stars in the QS University Ranking on Employability.

MGIMO Career Centre provides a wide range of career and recruitment opportunities. Its main goal is to help students and graduates launch their careers in:
- Major Russian and international firms;
- National public/government bodies and agencies;
- International organizations;
- International research centers and think-tanks.
The Career Centre holds up to 40 events annually including MGIMO Career days, professional master-classes, workshops, case-studies and simulations, companies’ presentations, etc. The Career Centre has supported hundreds of students and graduates in finding internships and full-time jobs.
